Day one of the Florida 300 four day endurance race up the coast of southern Florida ended with the Key Sailing Team of Kirk Newkirk and Tom Whitehurst in good position to defend their overall win from last year.
While the Key Sailing team was the clear winner of the days overall competition there was an unofficial duel with two brand new design foiling boats. Key Sailing was able to split the difference and beat one of the foiler boat for boat over the Islamorada to Key Biscayne leg.
