For the larger couple, with combined weights of over 170 kgs/370lbs. there is only one choice in catracing. The Nacra "One Design" , other builders have tried but none have succeeded, the power of the the Nacra 20 is legend, yet she handles that power with grace and ease.
The vinyl polyester sandwich foam hulls give a very stiff strong platform, stiffness IS speed!! Good weight carrying capacity, large buoyant hulls are fairly flat on the bottom, so the platform lays high on the water keeping you dry and makes tacking really easy, self tacking rail with fully battened jib all help make this boat a joy to drive.
Clear class rules give this boat the real racing option and you are not sailing with your wallet, you have the same equipment as everyone else, your skills get you there!! The Nacra 20 one design is a perfect boat for fleet racing and also for long distance competition, when her pedigree really comes to the fore.
Double trapezing in just a few knots of breeze, the rig allows you to play the power upwind in stronger winds, the mast twists off , opening the leach, reducing the power of the gusts and then returns in the lulls keeping you trapezing at a far more constant position that any other catamaran. The powerful Pentax mainsail and the fully battened jib gets you to the top mark fast and first, then you launch the 25 sqm spinnaker from the chute and leave the rest standing!!
This boat is a true GT, she likes space and open waters, you will love her. To win Grand Prix, this 20 is the boat to own!

It is all there for you, all quality packed and labelled. Unpacking your new Infusion is a real thrill, one you will never forget.
The boat is named after the method used in construction, the only production catamaran made with this modern Infusion system, this allows better material weight distribution within the hulls, yielding greater stiffness where it is needed, and stiffness is speed ! Hull volume, larger than other F18’s, means that the Infusion drives, and drives hard with handling that is rapid and precise. Wave piercing technology reduces drag and improves speed in all conditions, the Infusion wins in big seas and big winds just as well as gliding on a lake in flat water. In contrast to other designs, the Nacra Infusion stabilises herself at high speed due to dynamic lift, hence reducing pitching to low levels yielding a far more consistent airflow over the sails leading to higher speeds.
The fully battened jib, the self tacking jib rail, the large spinnaker chute, the Harken cunningham downhaul system enables total mainsail control, ask your dealer for the options. You need add nothing ! It is all there!! The high aspect dagger boards get you high upwind, the rudders are responsive and positive, trampoline is tightened from all four sides giving a firmer, drier, cleaner spacious platform. Nacra 17 "Olympic Mixed multihull"

5 on order by key sailing delivery late summer or early fall. Details to come

NACRA took all the best features and characteristics of our current F18 Infusion, which has won the last two F18 Worlds, and applied it to the new boat, as an example: the rudder system, mast extrusion, beams and some other small bits and pieces, this way we have proven technology on the new F20 Carbon".
The development was done by world renowned designers, Melvin & Morrelli for hulls, Niels Bunkenburg, A cat guru for the foils, Performance Sails for the rig & sails combined with the in-house knowledge at Nacra.
Development and testing has been underway for over 18 months, 2 boats were fitted with both straight daggers and with foils to allow the team to compare; a third boat, a Nacra 20 was fitted with the wide beams and the new rig. The 3 test platforms allowed the development team to test in the real world without revealing to much about this new boat, so they could adjust and fine-tune the design.
A variety in masts, mast hardware positioning and different sail cloth and shapes has been tested. The new hull shape which has been created, starting with a wave piercing bow forming a diamond shape hull stretching backwards into a "square-isch" transom, is of mayor importance due to the combination with the curved dagger board. Although the basic shape was chosen, several adjustments were made driven by new technology [computer fluid dynamics] and knowledge which was gathered by Morrelli & Melvin while working on the Americas Cup project for BMW ORACLE.
Pete Melvin:"It is not a coincidence that the hull shape of the new F20 Carbon shows resemblance with the floats of the AC boat, we were able to take the knowledge we gained at the AC project and scale it down to the F20 Carbon. The most noticeable and distinctive feature is the chine that runs from the bow backwards on the hull allowing the water to flow away from the hull. Combining the chine and wave piercing bow with the upperdeck shape reduces drag piercing trough the waves both upwards and downwards".
